Poland Arrests Belarusian Spy Who Targeted German Critical Infrastructure

The Polish intelligence service has arrested an alleged spy believed to be from Belarus, a man who is also thought to have operated in Germany. According to the Warsaw prosecutor’s office, he was apprehended by the Polish internal intelligence agency ABW on 9 February. Authorities allege that he worked for the Belarusian military intelligence apparatus.

Specifically, the prosecutor accuses the suspect of conducting espionage activities in Poland, Germany and Lithuania from June 2024 until February 2026. During that period he is said to have gathered information on critical infrastructure and facilities that are important for the defense of Poland and NATO. The arrest and charges were carried out jointly with German and Lithuanian intelligence services.

The suspect is currently in pre‑trial detention for an initial period of three months, and investigations into the case remain ongoing.
