Polish military authorities confirmed on Wednesday that Russian drones appeared to have violated Polish airspace during an ongoing aerial attack on Ukraine.
In response, Poland activated both its own and NATO air defense systems to intercept the drones. A statement from the military indicated that personnel are currently engaged in locating the downed objects. As a precautionary measure, citizens are being advised to remain indoors.
Four airports, including Warsaw’s Chopin Airport, the nation’s largest, have been temporarily closed.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has informed the NATO Secretary General regarding the evolving situation and the steps being taken to address the drone incursions. He stated that ongoing communication and coordination are being maintained.
