On Friday afternoon, police raided the bank and surrounding residential units in Sinzig due to a hostage situation. According to the Koblenz Police Headquarters, special forces searched the building for potential suspects. During this operation, two individuals were retrieved unharmed from a locked room.
The current investigation suggests that the perpetrators had locked the two people inside a vault room before fleeing the scene via an unknown route. Police officials emphasized that protecting potential victims remained the highest priority throughout the entire operation.
The reasons behind the crime are still unknown, and investigations into the fleeing suspects are ongoing.
