Police Foil Planned Sabotage of Chancellor Merz’s Private Plane in Arnsberg‑Menden.

Police reportedly thwarted an attempt to damage Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s (CDU) private aircraft during the night before Thursday. Authorities said three intruders-two women and a man aged 23, 56 and 28, all German nationals-were arrested after breaking into the grounds of the Arnsberg‑Menden airfield. The group was identified as “Spectrum Climate Activists” suggesting they intended to sabotage the aircraft that was parked on the property.

Earlier that evening, police had already noticed another individual during a traffic stop; he claimed to be searching for the local airfield. Law‑enforcement records linked him to politically motivated crime, prompting officers to investigate the airfield, where they discovered the three unauthorized entrants. As a result, the planned protest action was prevented.
