Police Union Slams Dobrindt Over Unpaid Pay Raises and Legal Obligations

The Police Union (GdP) is sharply criticizing Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) because, despite rising operational demands-especially at German borders-the agreed-upon salary increase remains absent. Andreas Roßkopf, the GdP head for Federal Police and Customs, told the “Rheinische Post” on Friday that “the patience of the colleagues has completely run out.”

Roßkopf noted that the operational density and burden have reached historical highs, driven not least by intensive migration situations and permanent border controls, yet Dobrindt is refusing to provide the financial security that is legally owed to the employees.

Furthermore, the reform of the Federal Alimentation Law, which was demanded by the Federal Constitutional Court years ago, was once again not submitted on time in September. “This has nothing to do with appreciated value,” Roßkopf stated, emphasizing that the issue is not about bonuses or favors, but a constitutional duty of the governing body.

According to the GdP, Dobrindt is “visibly risking a personnel hemorrhage that the inner security of this country cannot tolerate.” The union insists that he must “immediately” present a revised, constitutionally compliant draft of the Federal Alimentation Law.
