The staff rotation within the Berlin government continues: Culture Minister Wolfram Weimer (non-partisan) has lost his spokesperson, Hero Warrings. According to the “Rheinische Post”, Warrings is moving to Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe in mid-September, where he will take charge of the Berlin office as Head of Government Affairs Germany.
He previously held numerous high-profile roles, including being the communications chief for the CDU, a spokesperson for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, and a close associate and spokesperson for Friedrich Merz during the Bundestag election campaign. He worked for three CDU chairpersons: Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, Armin Laschet, and Merz. Most recently, he headed the communications team for the Culture Minister within the Chancellery-during a period of considerable turbulence, as Wolfram Weimer faced heavy criticism in recent months.
With his extensive political and journalistic experience, Warrings is expected to now bolster the steel conglomerate’s advocacy efforts amidst major energy and industrial policy challenges.
