Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a 32-hour ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine over the Orthodox Easter holidays, according to the state Russian news agency Tass on Thursday. The ceasefire is scheduled to be in effect starting at 4:00 PM on April 11th and concluding at the end of April 12th. While Russian forces are instructed to halt hostilities during this period, they are simultaneously required to remain prepared to stop any acts of hostile aggression. This announcement comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously called for a truce for the holiday period. It should be noted that Putin had also called a ceasefire last Easter; however, that time saw both Russia and Ukraine accusing each other of violating the agreed-upon ceasefire.
