Putin’s Violent Rhetoric Condemned as Ukraine Attacks Continue

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has strongly condemned the continuation of attacks on Ukraine during the recent summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Alaska. In a statement to Bild, Wadephul noted the attacks were accompanied by continued Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian cities, asserting this demonstrated a preference for violence as a means of communication.

Regarding a peaceful resolution to the conflict, Wadephul outlined clear preconditions. He emphasized that any solution must respect existing borders and include concrete security guarantees for Ukraine, stating European nations, alongside the United States, are prepared to provide such assurances.

The Foreign Minister made it clear that a peace achieved at any cost is not an option. He affirmed that as long as Russian bombs continue to fall across Europe, pressure on Russia will persist. Furthermore, he stressed the need for increased investment in European security and deterrence to discourage further Russian aggression while Russia continues to pose a threat to European peace.
