Bodo Ramelow, a politician from the Party of the Left (Linke) and Vice President of the Bundestag, has urged his party to bring transparency to the issues surrounding the Berlin election. Speaking to the news portal T-Online, Ramelow stated, “Nothing that is swept under the rug disappears.” He referenced incidents involving MP Ferat Koçak, as well as visits by clan leader Issa Remmo and Ibrahim Ibrahim, an activist with ties to a Palestinian terrorist organization.
The Deputy President elaborated, noting that while Remmo’s visit was an issue that led to his expulsion from the election party, he was more concerned by the presence of a pro-Israel activist like Ibrahim Ibrahim, who was taking photos. Ramelow stressed that “clarity must be established in this regard.”
He also criticized how his own treatment was handled by the party. “I am called a Zionist in my own party, and my party remains silent on it,” the Party of the Left politician said, expressing a desire for more solidarity.
Simultaneously, Ramelow criticized what he described as a “campaign” targeting the Left Party after its victory in Berlin. Drawing on his own history, he noted, “The same thing happened to me when I became Minister-President. The last large demonstration against the Left was the evening before I was sworn in.” He then voiced his backing for the top candidate, Elif Eralp, emphasizing that the Left Party has an opportunity like no other in Berlin. Ramelow concluded that the path ahead would be “a long, difficult process,” one dependent on strong communication, a skill he recognized in Elif Eralp.
