Benjamin Sesko, the promising Slovenian forward, is set to join Manchester United from RB Leipzig after two seasons with the Bundesliga club. The move, announced by RB Leipzig on Saturday, marks a significant step in the player’s career and represents a further strengthening of the English Premier League.
Marcel Schäfer, Managing Director of Sport at RB Leipzig, acknowledged the departure as a loss for the club both on and off the pitch, while expressing pride in the development of another player destined for a top-tier league and a globally recognized club. He also confirmed that the financial aspects of the transfer played a role in the decision. Reports indicate Manchester United will pay up to €90 million for the player.
Sesko, who joined RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2023 at the age of 20, quickly established himself as a key performer during his 87 competitive appearances for the club. The 22-year-old scored a total of 39 goals and provided 8 assists for the Bundesliga side, also contributing 16 goals and 6 assists in 41 appearances. He has also become a regular member of the Slovenian national team.
