The Digital Fair, Republica, kicked off in Berlin on Monday. The conference focuses on topics such as network culture, online politics, and social media, with the concept of solidarity taking center stage this year. Under the slogan “Never gonna give you up” the event aims to present an alternative model for an era where algorithms shape opinions, platforms dictate policy, attention has become a currency, and artificial intelligence increasingly influences reality. According to the organizers, the core message is a call to uphold the idea of a shared community, resisting the tendency to exploit one another.
Republica continues through Wednesday and is known as a gathering point for the “digital Bohemian” community. Attendees can expect prominent speakers from the digital sector, as well as figures from politics and business. The fair was first held in 2007 and has been taking place annually in Berlin since then.
