Rhein Demands CDU Treat Election Volunteers Right Ahead of Weekend Convention

Hessian Minister‑President Boris Rhein (CDU) urged his party to show greater consideration for the party’s own campaign candidates amid ongoing reform debates. “That’s always a good way to win elections” he told “Focus”. “Our candidates should at least have the chance to make their topics and ideas get through”.

With the reform discussions scheduled before the CDU party congress this weekend, Rhein cautioned against rushing into discussion. “Let’s first wait for the committees’ written reports before we dive into a lively debate again. That’s become a trend in Berlin” he said.

He added that concrete talks should only take place once the results are in, as that will make it clear in which direction such discussions should head.
