A group of far-right activists reportedly attempted to disrupt the ARD’s “Summer Interview” with Markus Söder on Sunday, but were ultimately unsuccessful. A spokesperson for ARD’s Berlin studio confirmed to dts news agency that the recording took place without interruption.
The activists arrived shortly after the main interview concluded, gathering within seconds to display banners and flags on the steps of the Reichstag building – a location routinely visible in the background of the ARD’s summer broadcasts. Söder and the ARD team were taking a break before recording additional content for social media when the group assembled.
Approximately one to two dozen individuals, dressed in black t-shirts and carrying black and yellow flags, chanted slogans, including “Re, Re, Remigration” using megaphones directed towards the television set. Their banner read, “Strongest Force in the Country – You Won’t Drown Us Out.
The identity of the group responsible for the disruption remains initially unclear. The black and yellow flags are associated with the “Identitarian Movement” a term encompassing several activist and ethnocentric groups advocating for what they term “ethnopluralism.
According to a dts news agency reporter at the scene, the unapproved protest was dispersed by police after a few minutes, with at least two individuals taken into custody.
This year’s “ARD Summer Interview” has already seen multiple instances of protests. In July, the “Centre for Political Beauty” aggressively disrupted an interview with Alice Weidel, leader of the AfD party and a pro-nuclear energy movement also attempted to leverage the broadcasts as a platform for their demonstrations on several occasions.
