Schalke 04 Reclaims 2. Bundesliga Top Spot with 2‑1 Victory Over Holstein Kiel

Schalke 04 completed the 22nd round of the 2. Bundesliga by winning 2‑1 at Holstein Kiel, regaining the top spot in the standings.
The home side took an early lead in the 16th minute when Kenan Karaman finished a corner from Adil Aouchiche past the line. In the 29th minute Hasan Kurucay added a second through a header after Džeko had extended the ball off the first post.

Kiel fought back in the second half, and in the 55th minute a free‑kick from David Zec produced their only goal. The hosts then increased the pressure, but Schalke’s defense remained disciplined, sparing only a few chances. In the end the visitors were shut down and managed to hold on for the three points.

With the win Schalke sits again at the top of the table, one point ahead of the second‑placed team, while Kiel has slipped to 14th place. The Storks will stay at KSC next Saturday, whereas Schalke will be needed away at Magdeburg on the same day.
