Selenskyy Meets German Leader Merz in Berlin | Ukraine Support Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Berlin Wednesday for high-level discussions focused on international security matters. The visit, announced just hours prior, saw President Zelenskyy landing by helicopter at the Chancellery Garden and being greeted by CDU leader Friedrich Merz.

President Zelenskyy is scheduled to participate directly in pre-summit consultations organized by Mr. Merz, addressing a potential meeting between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The deliberations began at 2:00 PM local time, with U.S. President Trump and Vice President JD Vance joining virtually at 3:00 PM. Subsequent consultations are planned involving European leaders without U.S. participation.

The discussions are structured around various configurations of participants and include the heads of state or government from Finland, France, the United Kingdom, Italy and Poland. Additionally, the President of the European Commission, the President of the European Council and the Secretary General of NATO are involved. Following the virtual meetings, President Zelenskyy and Mr. Merz are expected to address the press jointly later Wednesday afternoon.
