September Rate Hits 2..4%

Germany’s annual rate of consumer price inflation has continued to climb in September 2025, according to data released Tuesday by the Federal Statistical Office.

The inflation rate is projected to reach 2.4 percent, a rise from 2.2 percent recorded in the preceding month. Consumer prices are anticipated to have increased by 0.2 percent when compared to August.

A key indicator, the inflation rate excluding food and energy – often referred to as core inflation – is estimated to have risen to 2.8 percent. This figure remains demonstrably higher than the overall inflation rate.

Energy prices in September were lower than in the same month of the previous year, although the decrease was relatively modest at -0.7 percent. Food prices increased by 2.1 percent year-on-year. Service sector prices saw a rise of 3.4 percent.
