Severe Flooding Expected

A significant storm surge is anticipated along the North Sea coast on Sunday morning. The Lower Saxony State Agency for Water Management, Coastal Protection and Nature Conservation announced on Friday that the high tide is projected to be two meters higher than average. This elevated water level will be accompanied by wind force 8, indicating strong winds.

While the high tide until Saturday midday will be slightly below usual levels, a “minor” storm surge with a high tide approximately one meter above average is expected to arrive as early as Saturday evening.

Following the peak on Sunday afternoon, conditions are expected to gradually improve. A “minor” storm surge remains possible during the night into Monday, with only a slightly elevated high tide expected on Monday afternoon, coinciding with decreasing wind speeds.
