Shooter Kills Three Before Being Cornered and Fatal Shooting

On Monday, a severe attack occurred at a mosque in the Californian city of San Diego, resulting in multiple fatalities. Local police confirmed that three people died during the incident. The two suspected perpetrators, aged 17 and 19, were later found deceased in a vehicle nearby. According to the police, they died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

The incident took place in the Clairemont district, beginning when the first emergency call came in around 11:45 AM (local time). The call reported a shooter firing shots on the premises of the “Islamic Center of San Diego”.

At a press conference, Police Chief Scott Wahl stated that first responders arrived just four minutes after the alarm sounded, at which point three individuals were already dead. These fatalities reportedly included three adults, notably one mosque security guard. Authorities added that, based on initial findings, the guard played a “vital role” in preventing the attack from claiming additional lives.

However, the violence did not appear confined to the mosque grounds. Further emergency calls reported shots fired a short distance away, across multiple blocks. One person was hit in this separate incident, but police later confirmed the individual was uninjured.
