The number of mobile brothels operating along roadways in the German state of Lower Saxony has seen a slight increase this year. Current data, compiled by a query from the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung” (NOZ) across all districts and independent cities, indicates there are 66 such vehicles currently in operation. This compares to approximately 61 in 2024 and around 68 in 2023.
The majority of these establishments, often referred to as “lovemobiles” are concentrated in three districts. The Hannover region currently accounts for 26 registered vehicles, followed by the Heide district with 19 and the Oldenburg district with 12. Additional locations include the Harburg district (6), Hildesheim (2) and Stade (1).
The completeness of the data depends on the operational model. Vehicles operated by commercial businesses require a permit under the Prostitution Protection Act and are therefore recorded by the districts. However, if a sex worker utilizes their own recreational vehicle, a nationwide registration is sufficient and these instances may not necessarily appear in official counts.
