SPD Secretary General Tim Klüssendorf has criticized the contents of the cabinet’s decision regarding the care reform as insufficient. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” on Thursday, Klüssendorf noted that while the cabinet’s resolution may help provide some stability, he firmly stated that it is “certainly not a reform and therefore not a success yet.” He added that the immediate priority was successfully preventing most of the proposed cuts, but emphasized that the focus must now shift to finally implementing genuine changes. The SPD Secretary General highlighted that creating a fair balance between private and social health care insurance remains particularly important, as does effectively capping the personal contribution amounts required for care. He concluded by stating that this is fundamentally a matter of justice, assuring that vulnerable individuals needing care, their relatives, and the caregivers themselves will not be abandoned.
