SPD Vows New Citizen Relief Package After Federal Council Vote

Following the failure of the relief premium measures in the Bundesrat, SPD faction deputy Dirk Wiese announced several further financial relief measures for citizens. Speaking to “Rheinische Post”, Wiese stated that the black-red coalition will now discuss these new measures collectively. He believes the Coalition Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday will be the suitable forum for this discussion. Wiese also reminded reporters that both the Union and the SPD had already reached an agreement on a comprehensive tax reform. Specifically, he pointed out that the agreed-upon relief package set to take effect on January 1st includes changes to the income tax system.
