Strack-Zimmermann Urges Immediate Ukraine Delivery

Following what has been described as the most severe Russian aerial assault on Ukraine since the start of the conflict, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, a prominent German FDP politician and member of the European Parliament’s Defence Committee, has called on Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) to immediately provide support to Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles.

Strack-Zimmermann, speaking to Funke-Mediengruppe newspapers, emphasized the necessity of supplying ammunition and other military equipment to protect Ukraine’s civilian population. She specifically advocated for supporting drone production within Ukraine and the swift delivery of Taurus cruise missiles. She noted that providing this support would align with a previous promise made by Merz, who indicated he would facilitate such deliveries if he were to become Chancellor.

Furthermore, the politician urged the German government to prepare a clear plan outlining the security guarantees that Germany, alongside European partners, can offer to Ukraine. She also called for increased pressure on European nations that continue to source energy from Russia, thereby contributing to Russia’s financial resources.
