VfB Stuttgart has secured the return of Portuguese forward Tiago Tomas from fellow Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg. The club announced the transfer Saturday evening, ahead of their Supercup match against Bayern Munich.
Tomas previously played for Stuttgart from February 2022 to May 2023 and will rejoin the team immediately, participating in training Sunday morning. He has signed a contract extending through June 30, 2029 and will wear the number eight shirt.
The player expressed his delight at returning to Stuttgart, stating, “I am very happy to be able to play for VfB again in the future. I am very happy that the transfer worked out and I’m looking forward to the entire team. Since my first time in Stuttgart, the club has developed enormously. I want to contribute to reaching our new goals with my performance and being successful together.
Sporting Director Christian Gentner highlighted Tomas’s attributes, saying, “Tiago brings many qualities; he is fast, a strong dribbler and possesses excellent technique. These skills not only fit well with our playing philosophy but will also make our attacking area much more versatile and therefore more effective”.
