Stuttgart Thrash Augsburg 5‑2, Climb to Third in the Bundesliga 2025/26 Standings

At the end of matchday 27 of the Bundesliga, VfB Stuttgart won 5‑2 at home against FC Augsburg. The Swabian side took control from the kickoff, with Deniz Undav scoring early in the 12th minute after a curled cross from Stiller. Tiago Tomás added a second goal in the 29th minute with a powerful shot after receiving a header from Nartey, and Nartey himself put the hosts 3‑0 ahead two minutes later when he capitalised on a sharp corner from Mittelstädt.

Augsburg began to fight back in the second half, cutting Stuttgart’s lead to 3‑1 in the 57th minute when Fabian Rieder headed home after a cross from Fellhauer. Undav answered immediately, restoring the earlier margin a minute later with a rebound from a shot by Führich. In the 71st minute, Anton Kade drew the visitors even closer, turning a follow‑up from Jakic into the score sheet.

Ermedin Demirovic sealed the victory in the 83rd minute, making it 5‑2. A wide throw‑in that Schlotterbeck unfortunately mishandled left a gap, which Undav crossed to Demirovic, who finished the ball into an empty net. From that point on, Stuttgart dominated possession and left Augsburg with only a few fleeting chances. The win pushed VfB higher in the league table and showcased the team’s strong form ahead of the next fixtures.

In the standings, the Swabians move into third place, while the Augsburger remain tenth. After the international break on April 4, the people of Fuggerstadt will face the HSV, whereas the Stuttgarters will meet league neighbours Borussia Dortmund on the same day.
