Tesla Factory Evacuated After Battery Cell Fire in Germany

A section of Tesla’s Gigafactory in Grünheide, Brandenburg, was temporarily placed under restricted access protocols beginning Monday, following a fire incident within a battery production facility. According to reports, all personnel working in the affected building were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

A spokesperson for the Oder-Spree district confirmed the occurrence, stating that authorities received initial notification of the event. The incident involved a fire originating in the battery pack manufacturing area at approximately 3:00 PM local time. Preliminary investigations suggest that a number of battery cells fell from a conveyor belt on the first floor, descending through a shaft to the ground floor.

Authorities have confirmed that no individuals were injured and there was no reported environmental damage as a result of the incident. Tesla has reportedly taken all necessary steps to manage the situation. The district administration has indicated it will await the completion of a root cause analysis before seeking further information. Tesla has, thus far, not responded to requests for comment regarding the event.
