Trade Wars or Triumph German Giants Reveal Future

Despite the challenges posed by US President Donald Trump’s trade announcements, which have complicated forecasting for the current business year, a significant number of German companies within the DAX index have opted to provide detailed guidance on their expected performance. According to a report in the Handelsblatt, 14 out of the 40 companies comprising the DAX have released particularly comprehensive forecasts.

These companies include industry giants Allianz, BASF, Bayer, Continental, Daimler Truck, DHL, Deutsche Telekom, Fresenius, Hannover Rück, Henkel, Rheinmetall, Siemens, Siemens Energy and Volkswagen. A joint analysis by Kirchhoff Consult and the Deutsche Schutzvereinigung für Wertpapierbesitz (DSW) indicates that a further 23 corporations have delivered forecasts of a moderate quality, as reported by the Handelsblatt.

However, three DAX companies are attracting investor concern. Sartorius stands out as the only company exhibiting low forecast transparency. The pharmaceutical and laboratory supply company has refrained from quantifying either its consolidated results or segment results, delaying a detailed prognosis until its quarterly report in April 2025. Aircraft manufacturer Airbus and biotech specialist Qiagen have also chosen not to publish any forecast reports at this time.
