At least two people have died following an attic fire at a hospital in Ludwigslust on Friday, according to initial reports. Police have stated that a minimum of 34 individuals were injured in the incident.
The blaze originated in the attic structure of the hospital’s radiology building, and smoke quickly spread throughout the medical facility. The local fire department was alerted in the early morning hours and has been actively engaged in the operation ever since. Patients and staff are being systematically evacuated from the premises.
The clinic in Ludwigslust operates as the region’s acute care center for basic medical services and has a total capacity of 160 beds. While the precise number of patients present in the building at the time of the fire remains unknown, reports indicate that 82 patients are currently being evacuated. Authorities confirm that the situation remains fluid and dynamic.
