Marvin Ducksch is reportedly on the verge of a move from SV Werder Bremen to English second-tier club Birmingham City. According to reports from “Kicker” the 31-year-old striker is believed to have said farewell to his Bremen teammates earlier today, signaling a potential imminent transfer.
The move to England could be finalized shortly, following comments Ducksch made in May after Werder Bremen’s final Bundesliga match against Heidenheim, where he hinted at a possible departure. He is expected to sign a three-year contract with Birmingham City. The transfer fee is reported to be approximately two million euros, potentially supplemented by performance-based bonuses.
Birmingham City, a historic English football club, is backed by former NFL star Tom Brady, who holds a minority stake since 2023. The club, recently promoted from the third tier, has undertaken significant investment in recent times, with a focus on securing a return to the Premier League.
Ducksch joined Werder Bremen from Hannover 96 in 2021 and established himself as a prolific goalscorer. He was instrumental in the club’s promotion-winning 2021/22 season, scoring 20 goals. Across the subsequent three Bundesliga seasons, he has netted a total of 32 goals. Ducksch missed the entirety of the summer pre-season due to a calf injury and a return to team training is not currently anticipated.
