Truck Giant Axes Thousands of Jobs

Daimler Truck, a leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles, announced plans Tuesday to reduce approximately 5,000 positions in Germany by 2030. The decision, revealed during the company’s capital markets event in Charlotte, involves relocating these roles to countries benefiting from lower operational costs.

The company stated that the job reductions are part of a broader “efficiency program” aimed at achieving cost savings exceeding one billion euros in Europe by 2030.

In accordance with a recent agreement with the General Works Council, Daimler Truck intends to minimize the impact on employees through a combination of measures. These include leveraging natural attrition, expanding options for early retirement and offering targeted severance packages to facilitate a socially responsible reduction in workforce. The company emphasized its commitment to supporting affected employees throughout this transition.
