Donald Trump has withdrawn the tariffs that were to be imposed on February 1 in the context of the Greenland dispute.
“After a very productive meeting with NATO Secretary‑General Mark Rutte, we have laid the groundwork for a future agreement concerning Greenland and the entire Arctic” Trump wrote on Friday night on his platform Truth Social.
He added that “if” this solution materializes, it will be a major win for the United States of America and all NATO states. Because of the accord, the tariffs scheduled for February 1 will not be imposed.
Further discussions are planned about the proposed “Golden Dome” missile‑defense system in relation to Greenland. Those talks will be conducted “as needed” by Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and other officials.
