US President Donald Trump has set a deadline for the European Union, demanding that they reduce tariffs on American products to zero by the American Independence Day on July 4th. On Thursday, Trump announced on his platform, “Truth Social” his expectation that the EU must fulfill its commitments under the “historic trade agreement” reached in Turnberry, Scotland, which he described as the largest trade deal ever. According to the President, he had previously spoken with EU President Ursula von der Leyen, stating that she must meet this deadline. Otherwise, he warned that tariffs against the EU would “unfortunately increase significantly again”. Separately, Trump noted that he had “a very good conversation” with the European Commission President. During their discussion, they addressed many topics, including reaching complete unity on the position that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons. He stated that they agreed that a regime that murders its own people cannot control a bomb that could claim millions of lives.
