Trump Pushes U.S. Oil and Gas as Global Energy Powerhouse

US President Donald Trump championed American oil and gas this past Saturday, posting on his platform Truth Social that countless empty oil tankers, including some of the largest in the world, are en route to the United States to be filled with what he described as the best and highest quality oil (and gas!) globally. The president further stated that the US possesses more oil than the two next largest producing nations combined, and that the quality is superior, adding a promise of a “quick turnaround”. Experts suggest that Trump’s consistent push is an attempt to portray the US as a stable and superior energy source. This strategy aims both to mitigate uncertainty in the global oil market and to guide demand toward American exports. Trump remains in a complex position: while he has a vested interest in keeping global energy prices low to manage domestic inflation, the major US oil producers had recently benefited from rising rates prompted by the Iran crisis. However, global oil and gas prices have dropped sharply amid recent market easing.
