Donald Trump stated that he had a “detailed” phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping. In the conversation, the two leaders addressed a wide range of important topics, including trade, military affairs, and Trump’s planned visit to China in April, as announced on Wednesday. The discussion also covered the situation in Taiwan, the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the current conditions in Iran.
A central focus of the dialogue, according to Trump, involved U.S.-China trade relations. The presidents spoke about China’s purchase of U.S. oil and gas, and about the possibility of China buying more agricultural products. China agreed to increase its soybean imports to 20 million tonnes for the current season and 25 million tonnes for the next.
Trump said that the relationship between the United States and China, as well as his personal rapport with President Xi, are “extremely good”. He added that both sides are aware of the importance of maintaining these connections.
