Two people died following a single-vehicle crash on the A 46 near Wuppertal, which is heading toward Brilon. The Düsseldorf Police confirmed the incident on Sunday.
According to the current investigation, the accident occurred on Saturday around 6:50 PM. A 64-year-old man and his 59-year-old female passenger were traveling in a Suzuki on the A 46. While exiting the Wuppertal-Elberfeld junction, the 64-year-old lost control of his car for unknown reasons. The vehicle subsequently hit a curb barrier, left the roadway, and then collided with a tree.
The traffic incident resulted in heavy deformation of the car, and both occupants died at the scene.
For the accident investigation, which involved a police accident response team, the off-ramp and on-ramp at Wuppertal-Elberfeld, as well as Opphofer Straße, were closed for several hours. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
