UAE Ambassador Declares Nation in Self‑Defense, Urges Iran to Stop Rocket Strikes.

The United Arab Emirates ambassador in Germany, Ahmed Alattar, says his country is presently in a state of self‑defence. He urged that the attacks be stopped immediately, telling the German newspaper ”Handelsblatt” in its Wednesday edition that the onslaught stems from the Iranian regime in Tehran.

No other nation is being hit as heavily by Iran as the UAE. Iran’s new supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, has called on Gulf neighbours to close all U.S. bases in the region without delay, warning that the attacks would continue otherwise.

Alattar replied that the UAE has made it clear it will not allow its territory to be used for strikes against Iran. Yet Iranian forces continue to launch missiles and drones at residential buildings, airports and other civilian sites. He said the UAE will therefore keep working with the United States as a partner to prevent further escalation in the region, while reserving its full right to self‑defence under international law.

For years the UAE has cultivated an image as a safe haven in the Middle East, a logistical hub, a financial centre and a luxury destination. The Iran conflict threatens the Emirating business model. Nevertheless, Alattar stresses that the UAE remains committed to its international investment strategy and has not given up faith in a diplomatic solution. He added that any resolution would only be possible if the attacks against neighbouring countries were halted.
