UK Denies Entry to Right-Wing EU Politician, Citing Concerns for Public Good

AfD MEP Petr Bystron has reportedly been barred from entering the United Kingdom. Bystron was originally scheduled to speak at a planned large demonstration organized by the widely known far-right and anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson on Saturday. However, the UK’s Visa and Immigration authority-part of the Home Office-sent him a written notification on Thursday stating that his application for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) had been refused. The letter cited the reason for the refusal by claiming, “We are convinced that your stay in the United Kingdom is not in the public good”.

Reacting to the decision, Bystron told T-Online on Friday, calling the notice a “bankruptcy declaration”. He claimed that anyone implementing entry bans for European politicians who are scheduled to speak at a demonstration in 2026 must be “afraid of the truth” adding that the Starmer government is “in panic” and “at the end”.

Bystron is not the only right-wing politician or activist who has had their entry forbidden prior to the demonstration. It is publicly known that alongside Bystron, two other MEPs have also been denied entry: Dominik Tarczynski of Poland’s PiS party, and Filip Dewinter of the Belgian Vlaams Belang.
