A leading German parliamentary official has commended security agencies following the recent arrest of a Ukrainian national allegedly linked to the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines.
Marc Henrichmann, Chairman of the Parliamentary Control Committee in the Bundestag, stated that the arrest demonstrates the effective work of German and European security partners. He emphasized the need for a complete investigation into the attacks on the two pipelines, which occurred in autumn 2022.
Henrichmann highlighted the unusual aspect that the suspect reportedly travelled to Italy under their own name. However, he also stressed that many questions remain following the arrest and require thorough investigation by authorities to establish a complete understanding of the situation.
