The traces found at the arms depot located on the outskirts of Berlin, which became known late last week, appear to point toward a network of alleged agents controlled by Russia that has been operational in several European countries. According to reports from “Spiegel”, a young man from Ukraine is central to these developments.
Polish security authorities indicate that the 24-year-old traveled from Poland to Berlin by bus on October 1, 2025. Initially, he approached a discreet road in eastern Berlin. Investigators allege that he acquired two packages containing pistols, transported them to a forest near Müggelsee, and subsequently concealed them in an underground cache. The following day, he returned to Poland by bus.
Shortly thereafter, the suspect came to the attention of security authorities in Bucharest, Romania. Romanian judicial documents, reported by “Spiegel”, reveal that he, along with an accomplice, attempted to hand over packages fitted with incendiary devices through the Ukrainian courier service Nova Post. Both Ukrainian men were arrested and have been held in pre-trial detention in Romania for several months.
According to a statement from the Romanian domestic intelligence service, the men belonged to an extensive network of saboteurs targeting European countries and allegedly controlled by Russian intelligence services. “Spiegel” noted that the suspect’s defense in Romania had not yet been reachable for comment.
