UN Ambassador Demands Action on Epstein Files, Calls for Stronger Women’s Rights and Safer Leadership

The President of the UN General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, denounced how the Epstein files have been handled and urged stronger safeguards for victims. Speaking to the German news portal T‑Online, she said that in addition to thorough investigation and victim protection, those who have previously dismissed the fight for women’s rights must take a hard look at their own positions.

“Wretched, shocking. It’s everything, you know” Baerbock added, referring to the abuse cases listed in the Epstein dossier. “Girls as young as our daughters were subjected to the worst forms of abuse and were left to fend for themselves for years, despite their own statements”.

She warned of a “power elite” that protects one another in matters of child sexual abuse, a dynamic she described as threatening global security because “there is, of course, the potential for incredible blackmail”. The Green Party leader linked this scandal to the need for deeper gender parity. “The more women occupy leadership roles, the less susceptible a society is to corruption, abuse of office, abuse of power and especially sexual misconduct” she concluded.
