In Sunday’s Infratest poll for ARD, the CDU and CSU have slipped in support, while the social‑democratic coalition partner appears to be improving. If a federal election were held today, the Union would be at 26 percent-two points down from early January-whereas the AfD would sit at 24 percent, down one point. The SPD would stand at 15 percent, up two points. The Greens keep a steady 12 percent, the Left holds at 10 percent, and both BSW and FDP each capture 3 percent, staying below the threshold for seats. All other parties together amount to 7 percent, up one point.
The survey, conducted with 1,319 eligible voters for ARD’s DeutschlandTREND from Monday to Wednesday, also asked about satisfaction with government performance. Currently, 21 percent of respondents say they are very satisfied or satisfied with the federal government’s work, while 78 percent feel less or not at all satisfied with the performance of the Union and the SPD.
