The Union has issued a strong warning against complacency following the implementation of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) reform this Friday. Alexander Throm, the Union faction’s domestic policy spokesperson, called upon the EU Commission to ensure adequate adherence to the new rules.
Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” (Friday editions), Throm stated, “I expect the Commission to genuinely monitor the compliance with CEAS rules by all EU Member States and apply corresponding pressure.” He insisted that mere changes to the regulations should not amount to a continuation of the status quo in disguise.
Throm emphasized that the CEAS must be rigorously implemented across all member nations. Furthermore, he specified that the adherence of other member states to the Dublin Regulations will be a central issue for Germany.
