Michael Lewis, the CEO of the Düsseldorf energy giant Uniper, stated that the company is thoroughly prepared for the German federal government to exit its involvement. Speaking to the “Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung”, he affirmed that “we are fit for the reprivatization.” Lewis emphasized that the government’s entry in 2022 was a positive and necessary step. According to him, since that time, Uniper has fulfilled all repayment requirements, considerably strengthened its balance sheet, established a robust business operation, and achieved a significant improvement in its credit rating. The Uniper head concluded that the company has taken the necessary steps, noting that they are a strong entity capable of implementing their future strategy independently.
