Luigi Pantisano, who has been designated as the new leader of Die Linke (The Left), has stated that he calls for the abolition of billionaires. Pantisano told the “Rheinische Post” (Friday edition) that the party is committed to mobilizing and organizing workers to “fight against the wealthy.” He confirmed that Die Linke intends to oppose planned social reforms and called for an end to the exploitation of working people, ultimately aiming to seize the wealth of the rich. In response, the AfD characterized Pantisano as “the biggest threat to the prosperity of the working class.”
On a more organizational level, Pantisano outlined a strategy to strengthen Die Linke’s presence within workplaces. He acknowledged that the party has historically failed to systematically penetrate factories and industrial sites. While discussing the need to engage workers through unions and works councils, he noted that the party must fundamentally reorganize itself to better listen to workers in companies, learn from their experiences, and develop a structure where the working people can also organize themselves within the party.
Die Linke is scheduled to convene its three-day national party conference in Potsdam this Friday, an event that will include the re-election of the party’s leadership.
