U.S. forces reportedly sank an Iranian warship off Sri Lanka.
On Wednesday in Washington, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that a U.S. submarine had struck the enemy vessel with a torpedo while it was in international waters. He said it was the first time a warship had been sunk by a torpedo since World War II.

Sri Lankan officials reported that at least 80 people lost their lives in the attack in the Indian Ocean. The Iranian ship was on its way back to Iran from a port in eastern India.
