The Verdi union has called a warning strike for airport workers at Berlin‑Schönefeld (BER) on Wednesday. The employers halted ongoing wage negotiations, which, according to Verdi, prompted the protest. Flights may be cancelled or delayed as a result.
Holger Rößler, a Verdi negotiator, said the staff keep the airport operational every day and deserve respect and a wage agreement that recognises their work. In the second round of talks, the employers presented an offer that the wage commission rejected as non‑Negotiable. The next negotiation session is scheduled for March 25.
In that earlier proposal, the employers offered a step‑wise salary increase that would remain flat (the “zero round”) until June, then rise by 1 % from July 2026, 1.5 % from July 2027, and another 1 % from May 2028, extending until the end of 2028. Rößler called the offer a provocation at the negotiation table.
