Wagenknecht Slams Protests Disrupting Weidel Interview

The leader of the “Bund für Sahra Wagenknecht” (BSW) party, Sahra Wagenknecht, has strongly condemned the disruptions that occurred during the ARD television network’s summer interview featuring AfD (Alternative for Germany) party leader Alice Weidel.

Wagenknecht characterized the interview interruption as an advertisement for the AfD, not due to the content presented by Weidel, but because the actions of the protesters were perceived as undermining fairness and preventing a meaningful political exchange. She argued that resorting to such methods creates a sense of repulsion and demonstrates an undemocratic arrogance and helplessness on the part of those involved.

In a statement to “Welt” newspaper, Wagenknecht emphasized the necessity of fair debate and substantive engagement within a democratic society, rejecting efforts to silence political voices or engage in a “cancel culture” approach. She asserted that the protesters’ actions represent a typical example of what is presented as a “fight against the right” but ultimately weakens democratic principles and strengthens the AfD.
