Israel’s army has announced that it will treat any successor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as a potential target.
In a message in Persian, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said they will pursue anyone who attempts to appoint a new leader, warning that “everyone planning to participate in the succession meeting will not be exempt from scrutiny”.
Khamenei was reportedly killed in US‑Israeli attacks on the first day of fighting last Saturday. The Iranian Experts’ Assembly is expected to convene soon to select a replacement, and one of the favorites is Modschata Khamenei, a son of Ali Khamenei, who could potentially step into the role.
