A woman was fatally stabbed in Magdeburg on Sunday afternoon, according to police reports. The incident occurred around 12:15 PM at an intersection in the Neue Neustadt district of Magdeburg, located in the city’s northern area.
Authorities state that a 57-year-old man allegedly attacked the 59-year-old woman with a sharp weapon. The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time. Despite immediate efforts to provide medical assistance, the victim tragically died at the scene.
The suspected perpetrator was found with serious injuries and has been taken into custody. He is currently receiving emergency medical treatment at a local hospital. Both the victim and the suspect are confirmed to be Syrian nationals. The Criminal Police Department has initiated an investigation into the incident.
