The Free Democratic Party (FDP) intends to utilize its period in extra-parliamentary opposition as an opportunity to develop a revised core program. According to an internal presentation by the core program commission, revealed Saturday, the party plans to collect considerable input from the public throughout the process.
The FDP aims to initiate a “participation phase” in August. This phase will not be limited to party members but will actively seek contributions from anyone interested. The plan, as outlined in the presentation, includes directly engaging with citizens in public spaces such as pedestrian zones, providing opportunities for individuals to share their concerns and aspirations with the FDP. The party also intends to accept submissions via methods like voice messages, similar to those used on platforms like WhatsApp.
To analyze the volume of public feedback, the FDP is exploring the application of artificial intelligence (AI). An open-source solution, currently being developed, originates from Taiwan. This AI system is designed to extract key themes and guidelines from all submissions received, assisting the FDP in formulating the basis for discussion and eventual inclusion in the revised core program.
Beyond feedback collection, the FDP intends to openly discuss potential future policy positions at public events. The core program commission emphasizes the importance of active listening. The entire programmatic process is envisioned as a model for modern political participation and an illustration of technological innovation within the party.
