Luis Bobga, the Federal Spokesperson for the Green Youth, has publicly called on the Greens in Berlin to pursue a coalition with Die Linke and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) following the House of Deputies election. Speaking to Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, he commented that the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) suffered the biggest losses in Berlin-and deserved them. He cautioned that anyone suggesting that an alliance involving the CDU, SPD, and Greens could be the solution would need to make a “massive cognitive leap.” Bobga added that the leading Green candidate, Werner Graf, had never hidden his preference for a left-wing bloc during the election campaign, and the party would judge him on that stance after the polls closed. Furthermore, he stated that the responsibility now heavily rests with Die Linke and the SPD, given that the two parties have recently been defining their stances against each other with strict “red lines.” He concluded that these divisions must be resolved to adequately represent the will of the voters.
